10th Annual South China Sea Conference, Session Three
Our Research Director Ivy Kwek spoke at the Tenth Annual South China Sea Conference organised by the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). She discussed about Malaysia’s attempt to strike a balance in dealing with the tensions, in a way that can deter china’s actions but at the same time not making it a fulfilling prophecy by attracting more conflicts. Malaysia’s low profile approach should not be taken as compromising as Malaysia is taking concrete steps to defend its own interests, including the submission to UN as well as the commitment on completing the Code of Conduct next year via ASEAN.
