Research for Social Advancement (REFSA) is a not-for-profit think-tank dedicated to intellectual interaction and open discussion on social, economic and contemporary issues affecting all Malaysians.
Through forward-looking policy research we aim to fill a significant role in the nation’s political, social and economic development.
Our research arm is fast expanding itself in identifying issues and establishing options to underdeveloped or ailing policies related to government institutions and socioeconomics. |
MISSION
We aim to see Malaysia develop into a democratic, multi-racial, equal-opportunity society that upholds values of fairness and justice, supported fully by a government that leads by example. We believe that every citizen, regardless of race, creed or religion, deserves a place in Malaysia on equal terms. REFSA’s endeavours centre around this belief.
For Openness and Democracy:Openness assures the public’s access to information relevant to the making of public decisions. Without this access, democracy and human rights bear little meaning. Openness expresses the right of every citizen to know what transpires in government and in the institutions that serve them.
Through publications, forums, conferences and workshops, REFSA aims to develop a culture of discussion amongst people of all ages, and encourage them to enhance their awareness of government institutions, public policy, and democracy.
We are currently increasing REFSA’s research capacity to meet the serious need for public policy research. Our aim is to engage scholars, policy-makers, and the general public to articulate views and knowledge and to disseminate information useful to the making of policies at the local, state and national levels.
REFSA conducts research progressively committed to the development of independent ideas and approaches, and to the acquiring of relevant and reliable data.
